Smoothies for the Holidays

You were busy before the holidays so now things may feel a bit overwhelming.  Often times we begin to neglect the basics when we get busier and sometimes that means dropping breakfast from our schedule.

Smoothies are an easy way to ensure we are getting in the most important meal of the day.  I often times use smoothies as a tricky way to incorporate veggies, protein and fats into my day with a great flavor!

Some of my favorite staples for smoothies include:

  • A great protein powder- I prefer plant-based options such as Vega, Orgain or PlantHead
  • Nut butters for my fat source or MCT oil- almond butter, cashew butter, walnut butter, etc.
  • Leafy greens and berries- a great way to increase your veggie and fiber intake and berries are great for flavor
  • I use water or an alternative milk for my base to my smoothie to give it a thicker texture
  • Bonus ideas include collagen powder for additional protein or an alternative to the plant-based protein options
