Sarv Varta K. Khalsa, N.M.D. is a Licensed Naturopathic Medical Doctor who graduated with high honors from the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine and Health Sciences. On graduating she received the coveted Daphne Blayden Award for her "Commitment to Naturopathic Medicine, Academic Excellence, Compassion, Perseverance, A Loving Sense of Humor and A Positive, Supportive Outlook". In addition, she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and minor in Chemistry from Northern Arizona University. Dr. Khalsa completed her Family Practice Residency Program through the Southwest Naturopathic Medical Center, where she received specialized training in the area of acupuncture under the direction of the accomplished Dr. Young Deng of Chengdu University of China and author of Encyclopedia of Chinese and U.S. Patent Herbal Medicines. She also received extensive homeopathic training under the tutelage of Dr. Stephen Messer, a nationally recognized homeopath and founder of the Homeopathic Academy of Naturopathic Physicians. Dr. Khalsa is a member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians, the Arizona Association of Naturopathic Physicians and the National Center for Homeopathy.

Dr. Khalsa values the efficacy of medical research and is a published author in the esteemed medical journal, The Annals of Pharmacotherapy, April, 2005. Her passion, however, lies in clinical practice where she values the one-on-one interaction with her patients.

Dr. Khalsa's clinical experience encompasses a variety of medical settings including Naturopathic Family Practice, Urgent and Emergency Care, and working in outpatient settings with the chronically ill. Dr. Khalsa served as the primary physician in a busy, acute care facility in Mesa, Arizona that provided health care to under-served patient populations. She provided services for Mission of Mercy, a child sponsorship organization that helps to meet the medical, physical, and spiritual needs of children in poverty. She also served as a Supervising Physician and teacher to medical students completing clinical rotations at the Southwest Naturopathic Medical Center in Scottsdale, where she facilitated Women’s Wellness Exam Clinics, performing routine gynecological exams and addressing numerous women’s health care concerns, and Family Practice patients. Dr. Khalsa’s unique blend of divergent populations in which she has served, supervisory role as physician and teacher, and work with family practice, emergency medicine, and women’s health, allow her to provide integrative care with compassion and skill.

Dr. Khalsa teaches and lectures at various institutions around the valley, including Health and Wellness Continuing Education classes through Chandler Gilbert Community College and Anatomy and Physiology classes for the Yoga Teacher Training program at Inner Vision Yoga in Chandler. In addition, Dr. Khalsa has been practicing Kundalini yoga for more than 20 years and is a teacher of this art. She carries on a 30-year teaching tradition started by her father, where she has served as a teacher at the Gentle Strength Cooperative, Inner Vision Yoga and currently at the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts.

Dr. Khalsa takes her experience in medicine and healthy living to approach patient care by considering the whole person. She is an integrative practitioner who draws from both the conventional and natural medicine worlds to provide her patients with the best medical options available. She utilizes a wide variety of treatments including: diet and life-style counseling, clinical nutrition, acupuncture, herbal medicine, homeopathy, IV and injectable therapies and prescription medications when indicated. Dr. Khalsa strives to provide the best possible care for her patients so they can enjoy life at their maximum level of health.
