Homeopathy has shown to be a safe and effective way to support mental and emotional well-being as a part of a comprehensive treatment plan. Homeopathy was founded by a physician name Samuel Hahnemann in the early 19th century and still thrives today as one of the most widely used forms of medicine in the world. Homeopathic medicine uses very dilute natural substances, usually plants or minerals, to trigger a healing response in the body. The mechanism of action is based on the homeopathic “Law of Similars” and the idea the “like cures like.” Basically, a substance given to a healthy person in a full strength dose can help treat the same symptoms in a sick person when given in a very dilute dose. An example would be an onion causing a healthy person to have burning, watering eyes and a runny nose with clear discharge. If homeopathic onion is given to a person who already has symptoms of a clear nasal discharge and burning, watering eyes it can help resolve the symptoms. Because homeopathic medicines are so dilute, they are very safe and have no known medication interactions and little to no side effects.

Homeopathy is very individualized. In addition to a thorough health history, your Naturopathic Doctor will ask specific questions to find out which remedy correlates best with your unique set of symptoms. This individualized process is a big reason why homeopathy is so effective because we are treating the person rather than the symptom or illness.
